My Wife says I suffer from chronic onychophagia. What is onychophagia? It’s chronic nail biting. The medical community always comes up with complicated names for simple things. Onychophagia? I guess doctors just like being able to talk so no one understands them. Why do I suffer from onychophagia? There’s so much stress in the world today. Look at the news:

And in the truly sad and pathetic arena, someone called 90dayjane started a blog that would talk about her life and feelings for 90 days, then commit suicide. I didn’t follow 90dayjane’s blog. But it raises an interesting theory of using a blog as group therapy. Maybe they’re on to something there.

I never really was one to pay attention to the latest trends in news. I found top headlines too depressing and avoided them. But I’m always lost when people talk about current events. I have become pretty good at playing like I have a vague idea what people are talking about when they bring up things like earthquakes in tokyo. I smile, nod and ask questions that make me sound informed but I don’t have a clue. I didn’t even know there was a bust at SDSU or that some girl named Jenny Poliakoff died of a drug overdose there. Most people seem to get their ideas from the Main Stream Media, and rarely have an original thought of their own. Maybe if more people were independent thinkers, we’d have less trouble and turmoil in the world. So I’ve decided to pay attention to trends and news in an attempt to stay informed.
